Citizens’ Dialogue with European Commissioner Violeta Bulc

On the 15th of January 2018, 22 students of Terminal L, ES and S went to a conference taking place in Rotondes (Luxembourg). Indeed, some of us are applying to the Science Po Reims cursus and others came as heads of the ULE, the environmental association within the school.

The conference was about environmental challenges in the transport sector. We attended an open debate with the Luxembourg transport minister and the transport commissionaire of the European union. This conference was fruitful as we discussed the problems of transport that Luxemburg is facing but also at European level. We exchanged about the evolution in that field and sought some solutions such as widening the road lanes of the highway, an extension of the Luxemburg station and even in a few years, flying cars…
This debate has brought answers on our means of transport, how to use them at best. Indeed, we have learned that a new application is going to be put in place for car-pooling to reduce carbon emissions.
This debate was therefore a rewarding experience for our final year students. The limits of this issue are important and we tried to understand them the best we could.
We thank the Luxemburg government and the Rotondes for inviting us to participate in this event! We also thank the teachers: Mr Madeira and Mr Murphy.
